OVER $5.5 MILLION RAISED VIA OUR FREE BICYCLE LOANS!!!
Bicycle Angels is an IRS registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit charity that loans a road bicycle for free to people that are registered to participate in a fundraising charity cycling or triathlon event, but don’t have a suitable bike to use – and are not ready to purchase a road bike of their own.
By providing a free bike loan specifically and only for eligible charity events, we help remove a major barrier to fundraising. After their first loan, many of our borrowers continue to ride, and do repeat charity fundraising events.
We also help engage new people into the sports of cycling and triathlons. As such, we also help support the bicycle industry and bike shops, because about half of our loan recipients later go on to buy their own bike.
Since our inception in late 2009, we have loaned bicycles to over 3000 participants who have collectively raised over $5.5 Million to date (and growing!) for over 35 different charities. Charities that have benefited to date include the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (via their Team in Training program), Multiple Sclerosis Society, National Diabetes Society, AIDS/LifeCycle, Arthritis Foundation, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Police Unity Tour, Best Buddies, Ability Center, Junior Diabetes Research Fund, ALS Society, and No Vet Alone, to name a few. The average amount raised by a borrower is $2500.00.
Why donate to us? We are a volunteer-run organization and are very efficient. For instance, our 2019 budget of about $50K resulted in over $940,000 being raised for charities. That’s a return of over 1700 percent!
